Energy Efficiency

Energy LabelIncreasing energy efficiency is like tapping a great new source of pollution-free energy. In this sense, energy efficiency is the cleanest “fuel” of all. Shifting to cleaner, leaner energy use in Australia is a win-win proposition. It will save us money, boost our economy and create thousands of jobs.

The Greens NSW believe our society wastes a huge amount of energy – in our daily lives, in industry, in transmission from centralised generation. NSW is particularly wasteful, with one of the highest per capita rates of energy consumption in the world;

The Greens NSW believe reducing waste through energy efficiency offers major economic, social and environmental benefits, cutting energy costs and removing the need for new generating capacity. Investing in energy saving technology creates more jobs and economic activity per MWh than investing in generating more energy. Since many efficiency gains are available instantly, efficiency is also the fastest way of reducing greenhouse emissions.
