Education
Australia has been well served by its public education system.
Public schools, TAFE colleges and universities have created a more just
society and have contributed to our ability to generate wealth, conduct
a democracy and produce a dynamic and vibrant culture.
Public
education is now under threat as never before. The massive increase in
public funding of private schools, the rundown of TAFE and the failure
of the federal government to fund universities are eroding the
future of our great public education institutions.
There is an alternative: a well funded public education system building a future for all Australians, regardless of their level of wealth or their family background.
The Greens are campaigning alongside teachers and their unions, students, parents and the community to build that alternative.
